19 Celebrity Duos Who You Might Not Realize Are Actually Married Or Have Been Together For A Really, Really Long Time

Two of the kids from “School of Rock” recently got married.
1. First, Saoirse Ronan and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden have been together since they starred together in Mary Queen of Scots in 2018. Saoirse played Mary, while Jack played Mary’s second husband, Henry Stuart. They’ve kept their relationship very quiet, but they recently made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2024 Emmy Awards after they tied the knot earlier in the year.

Speaking about marrying Jack, Saoirse revealed to USA Today, “I feel like I’m part of a group, which I never thought I would have. I used to think, ‘You’ll never have friends. You’ll never have a partner.’ I was so in my own world in a lot of ways. So now, to feel like I’ve got a very rich personal and social life — it’s so precious to me.”
2. Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin were both very well-known child actors, having starred in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Home Alone, respectively. In 2014, they met at a party — where Brenda revealed she didn’t really like him — and then they crossed paths again when they starred in a movie together in 2017. The duo got engaged in 2022 and now share two children.

Speaking about their relationship in a joint interview with Cosmopolitan, Brenda said, “I saw this person he put out there — it was a product of this armor that he’s put on to protect himself. But I could see that that wasn’t really who he was; I could see these glimpses of this really interesting, very sensitive, very intelligent, artistic person that he doesn’t really let show.”
3. Jim Carter — who is known for starring in Downton Abbey — and Imelda Staunton — who is known for her work in the Harry Potter films and The Crown — first met while in rehearsals for Guys and Dolls in London in 1982. They’ve been married for 42 years and share a daughter, Bessie Carter, who stars in Bridgerton as Prudence Featherington.

They’ve appeared together a few times on screen, most notably in the Downton Abbey film in 2019.
Speaking about their long-lasting marriage, Imelda told British Vogue in 2024, “I feel Jim and I have made our lives work as a marriage within this business, and we take our life more seriously than our jobs. Of course, we both take [the job] very seriously. But you go, ‘What’s the most important thing here? That I play another part? Or that we go on a very nice holiday, or that we have that time in the garden, that we have our life?'”
4. School of Rock costars Caitlin Hale and Angelo Massagli, who starred as Marta/Blondie and Frankie, have been friends since they filmed the movie together back in 2002. Years later, Angelo happened to move near Caitlin in Florida, and they reunited. They started dating and announced their engagement in September 2024. In January 2025, they got married, with several of their School of Rock castmates in attendance.

Rivkah Reyes, who played Katie in the film, posted an adorable TikTok from Caitlin and Angelo’s wedding. The video featured several other School of Rock cast members, and it was even set to Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” which is notably featured in the movie.
Both Caitlin and Angelo have left Hollywood, with Caitlin becoming an OB-GYN Sonographer.
5. Growing up, Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz starred together in the Disney Channel Original Movie Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge. Fifteen years later, Kimberly contacted Daniel about starring in some comedy sketches with her for her YouTube channel. The duo began catching up and eventually started dating. They got married in May 2024.

Speaking about seeing Kimberly for the first time again after filming Halloweentown II in 2001, Daniel told People, “We met up at a bar, and I was waiting there for a little Kimberly J. Brown to come in and in walks a beautiful, well-put-together full-grown woman. I was like, ‘Oh, well, hello there. I believe we’ve both grown up a little bit.’ Then, that was pretty much it for me. I was smitten.”
6. Pen15 and Mr. & Mrs. Smith star Maya Erskine first met her now-husband, Sky High and This Is Us star Michael Angarano when talking to him about starring in a movie he was directing. In 2019, they confirmed their relationship on Instagram when Michael posted about sitting with her at an award show, adding, “I also happen to be in love with” her. The duo privately got married and share two children.

They welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Leon, in 2021, around the same time the final season of Pen15 was being released. Michael wrote a sweet Instagram post congratulating Maya, saying, “you are incredible… as an actor, a writer, a showrunner, a director, and a mom. we love you and are so grateful for you in our lives (i’m speaking on mine and Leon’s behalf).”
Michael also appeared in Pen15 alongside Maya.
7. Abbi Jacobson met Ted Lasso and For All Mankind star Jodi Balfour on a dating app during the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2021, they made their relationship public with sweet Instagram posts, with Jodi writing, “365 days of the best surprise of my life.” Three years later, the duo got married.

Reflecting on their first date — 25 feet apart during the pandemic — Jodi told Cultured, “I had a very complex theory about my own relationship to romance. Then I saw Abbi standing just outside her front door, and I thought, Oh, I love this person. Cool.”
Abbi added during the same interview, “I made her walk outside to the backyard by herself so I could have a moment to say to myself, ‘Oh God, I’m in love.'”
8. Michael Emerson — who is best known for his work in shows like Lost and Person of Interest — and Carrie Preston — who is known for starring in The Good Wife and Elsbeth — first met 30 years ago during a production of Hamlet at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. They got married in 1998 and have been together ever since.

Michael and Carrie frequently share the screen together, with Carrie appearing in episodes of Lost and Person of Interest and Michael currently having a recurring guest-star role in Elsbeth.
Speaking about his role on Elsbeth, Michael joked with Variety, “I had to get a part on the show just to see my own wife.”
9. Damian Lewis — who is best known for his work in Homeland and Band of Brothers — and Helen McCrory — who starred in Peaky Blinders and the Harry Potter films — first met in 2003 while they were in rehearsals for a play in London. The duo got married in 2008 and were together for 18 years before Helen’s death in 2021.

Helen died of cancer in 2021 at age 52. In 2022, in an interview with Good Morning Britain, Damian said, “She was a fabulous human being, and people from all walks of life have been in touch to say what an impact she had on their lives.”
The Guardian also named Damian and Helen one of “Britain’s most feted acting couples” of all time.
Director Michael Attenborough recalled seeing the duo fall in love, telling British Vogue, “I witnessed two people falling for each other hook, line, and sinker, which, of course, worked brilliantly in the play.”
10. The Good Place star William Jackson Harper and Agatha All Along star Ali Ahn have been together for 13 years and counting. They first met while they were both in different relationships while doing theater together in New York. Speaking about his career and life in 2021 in an interview with the LA Times, William said, “I feel like I sort of took some lumps for a long time in my career, so with all the things that are happening now, like, when I get to go to those big fancy parties and stuff, it still feels really alien. Speaking about their wedding, Melanie told SiriusXM, “We got married on our front porch of our little rental house in Atlanta. A nice lady came and married us. We had two friends there. Ali Ahn and William Jackson Harper … They brought a cake and flowers and everything we needed. It was actually a very fun wedding day, but it didn’t need to happen. He could totally have gotten into Canada.”
12. Mare Winningham and Anthony Edwards notably starred on ER together from 1998–1999 when Mare guest-starred as Dr. Amanda Lee. In 2020, they reconnected during the COVID-19 pandemic when they were both living in NYC and would take “incredible walks” together and just catch up. In an interview with Esquire, Anthony said their wedding consisted of “just the two of them and an old friend to officiate.” He added, “We’re too old to throw weddings. She’s just spectacular. She’s an amazing singer and she’s a wonderful actress and she’s an incredible person.”
13. Succession and Pride & Prejudice star Matthew Macfadyen first met Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes on the set of the hit BBC drama Spooks in 2002. Keeley was married at the time but recalled there was an instant connection between the duo. She told Vanity Fair in 2022, “Matthew just came straight out with it and said ‘I love you’ in the rain one day. 15. Bitsie Tulloch and David Giuntoli met in 2011 when they starred on Grimm together as Juliette and Nick, respectively. They confirmed their offscreen relationship in 2016 and got married in 2017. Their daughter was born in 2019.

Speaking about being directed by David, Bitsie told TVInsider, “He did an amazing job. And I do find that often actors really like working with actor-turned-directors.”
16. Station 19 star Boris Kodjoe and And Just Like That… star Nicole Ari Parker have been together since they met while starring in Soul Food together. Boris shared per People, “After season 2, we made it official, but we took our time because we both knew how precious that was.” They got married in 2005 and share two children.

18. Yellowstone costars Ryan Bingham and Hassie Harrison, who starred as Walker and Laramie, respectively, met on the set of the series when Hassie joined the show in Season 3. In 2023, they announced their relationship off-screen on Instagram, with Hassie writing, “I love you, cowboy” in the comments of the post, too. In October 2023, they got married, with Hassie recalling to Vogue that Ryan asked her to marry him by saying, “I want to ask you to marry me, but only if you say yes.”

In an interview with Vogue, Hassie discussed their early romance, saying that her mom was the one to thank for their romance. She recalled they hung out at a charity event in Dallas together during a break from Yellowstone production and realized they had a lot of mutual Texas-based friends.
She added, “It’s still a wonder to us to this day that our paths hadn’t crossed sooner, given all our shared connections back home. It truly was one of those serendipitous moments that make you realize life has a way of bringing people together at precisely the right time and place.”
19. And finally, Melissa Gilbert — who starred as Laura Ingalls Wilder in Little House on the Prairie from the time she was 10 years old — and Timothy Busfield — who is best known for his roles in Field of Dreams and The West Wing — have been married since 2013. The year prior, the duo actually met at a bar across from Universal Studios. Recalling their first meeting, Timothy said, “I knew she was the one. It felt so real.”
