Why you need to watch it: “This supernatural horror movie is just plain creepy. It’s all shot to look like you’re watching a late-night TV broadcast from Halloween night in the ’70s, and when the host takes part in a live séance everything takes a VERY dark turn. It’s super tense and clever and a wild ride, so just trust me on this one.”
What it’s about: “James and Em Foster are enjoying an all-inclusive beach vacation when a fatal accident exposes the resort’s perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism, reckless violence, and surreal horrors.”
Why you need to watch it: “If you love psychological thrillers with a lot of twists then definitely check it out. Alexander Skarsgård and Mia Goth are both in it, and they’re so good. It’s FREAKY.”
What it’s about: “A woman with a titanium plate fitted in her head and murderous intent on her mind embarks on a bizarre journey of identity and unconditional love when she’s forced to go on the run.”
Why you need to watch it: “This one is weirdddd and has some scenes that I’ve actively tried to forget. Like, whatever you think is gonna happen, you’ll be wrong. Warning: if you’re not into body horror then don’t watch this, but if you are then you’ll probably be amazed/freaked out/confused/captivated.”

5. I Saw the TV Glow (2024)
What it’s about: “A teenager is trying to survive life in the suburbs when a classmate introduces him to a mysterious television show.”
Why you need to watch it: “I’m still confused by some of what I watched, but I know I liked it. I can’t really compare it to any other movie I’ve seen. It’s really unique and visually stunning. Also, Emma Stone produced the movie, and Justice Smith stars in it.”

What it’s about: “Kevin’s mother struggles to love her strange child, despite the increasingly dangerous things he says and does as he grows up. But Kevin is just getting started, and his final act will be beyond anything anyone imagined.”
Why you need to watch it: “This movie is painful and frustrating in a way that I’ll never forget. The final scenes replayed in my mind for days.”
What it’s about: “Two violent young men take a mother, father, and son hostage in their vacation cabin and force them to play sadistic ‘games’ with one another for their own amusement.”
Why you need to watch it: “This movie messed me UP! I tried to watch it a second time later on, but I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to turn it off.”
What it’s about: “This documentary tells the story of a six-year-old girl who’s healing from Reactive Attachment Disorder as a result of being abused as an infant.”
Why you need to watch it: “It’s a brilliant-yet-disturbing watch. It features interviews with the little girl, and they’re so chilling. They also make me feel so sorry for her and hopeless at the same time.”
What it’s about: “An erotic novelist is writing a morbid story of a family destroyed by incest, murder, and abuse. Her assistant sets on a mission to uncover the reality of this story, but the reality might be too much to bear.”
Why you need to watch it: “It’s the creepiest, wildest, grossest movie I have ever seen. It made me so uncomfortable. The plot twist at the end is also brilliant. The movie is so freaky that I’m never going to watch it again.”
What it’s about: “A documentary on kids who attend a summer camp hoping to become the next Billy Graham.”
Why you need to watch it: “I got into the habit of watching documentaries while at the gym. I had to turn this one off and restart it at home because it was so bizarre and deserved my undivided attention. It was so wild. It was like a last-call drink that I regretted having.”

Why you need to watch it: “If we want to talk about a highly disturbing movie, we should talk about Splice. That movie got me messed up.”
What it’s about: “Several ordinary high school students go through their daily routine as two others prepare for something more malevolent.”
Why you need to watch it: “Elephant needs to be on this list. It’s about a school shooting, and it’s absolutely terrifying.”
What it’s about: “A frontier woman turns fugitive when she is wrongly accused of a crime she didn’t commit and is hunted by a vengeful preacher.”
Why you need to watch it: “It’s the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen. I went to see it by myself in the theater, and it made me shake and physically sick. It wasn’t even gory, just so oppressing.”

Why you need to watch it: “This movie really bothered me. There were so many parts when I had to look away because I felt sick to my stomach. I love horror movies, and this isn’t exactly a horror movie, but I just can’t watch it again.”
What it’s about: “A widower takes an offer to screen women at a special audition, arranged for him by a friend to find him a new wife. The one he fancies is not who she appears to be after all.”
Why you need to watch it: “The majority of the film is more like a drama and even sometimes romantic, but towards the end it becomes violent and very uncomfortable to watch. It’s terrifying.”

Why you need to watch it: “I don’t want to go into too much detail, but just trust me when I say it’s definitely the most messed-up movie I’ve ever seen.”
What it’s about: “When a successful country lawyer captures and attempts to ‘civilize’ the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast coast for decades, he puts the lives of his family in jeopardy.”
Why you need to watch it: “This is the creepiest movie I’ve ever seen. It was so messed up that I still shudder just thinking about it.”

Why you need to watch it: “It left a bad taste in my mouth. It was super creepy, gory, and disturbing, all in one. The ending really made me uncomfortable. Couldn’t sleep after watching it.”

Why you need to watch it: “It makes you cringe, cry, and wait in pain for what’s about to happen. Those scenes…they stay with you. It’s one of the most gruesome movies EVER.”
