Angelina Jolie opens up about her journey with aging and stardom
Angelina Jolie, a celebrated actress and filmmaker, recently got candid and opened up about getting acting jobs as she grows older.
While giving an interview to The Sunday Times that was published on weekends, the 49-year-old actress revealed by saying, “I’ve got better work as I’ve got older.”
“I don’t think about it in terms of roles offered, but in terms of life experience you contribute,” she added.
Sharing her views on getting old, the Maria star quipped that ageing is “easier for actors than singers or dancers because your body doesn’t change,” and shared that she admires opera singer Callas for her “commitment” to performing, even though she was afraid of getting older.
For the unversed, Jolie depicted the role of an American Green soprano, Maria Callas, in her final days in Paris.
The story of Maria follows the journey of Callas, in which she reflects on her identity and life after years of fame and turmoil and succumbed to a heart attack at her Paris residence at 53 in 1977.
Jolie said, “Maria is vulnerable because she feels and isn’t sometimes able to protect herself from the loneliness or emotional pain, because it’s part of her life and work to be extremely human and live that way.”
“You live through your communication with the audience. For Maria — and for me — that has always been extremely important,” the Salt actress concluded by saying.
It is pertinent to mention that on the professional front, Jolie has earned Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Girl, Interrupted in 1999 and secured a nomination for Best Actress for 2008’s Changeling.
