Morgan Freeman is opening up about his experience working with fellow acting legend Jack Nicholson in the 2007 dramedy The Bucket List.

Freeman, 87, made an appearance in a recent episode of Dax Shepard and Monica Padman’s Armchair Expert podcast which opened a conversation around the two Oscar winners’ work dynamics.

“Did you have fun doing Bucket List? How’d you get on with Jack Nicholson?” Shepard, 49, asked to which Freeman had a cheeky reply. “I met him prior and told him I’d give him my left testicle,” he said.

“He was asked if he’d do it, and he said, ‘Send me the script.’ I sent him the script and he said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it,'” Freeman added. “So there we were, me and Jack Nicholson.”

Bucket List revolves around two terminally ill men who head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die—which raised the question if Freeman ever got “self-aware of what [he] was experiencing” when working with Nicholson, 87.

“No. When we were working, we were working at work. But then I go home and I go, ‘Jesus f****** Christ. Jack Nicholson,'” Freeman told Shepard.

“Yeah, but he was probably saying the same thing,” Padman remarked. “It’s a similar situation for him, I’m sure.”

“Well, I don’t know if Jack has that gear,” said Shepard, to which Freeman quipped, “I don’t think so!” but told Padman, “I like that attitude you got there.”

“If I’m working with somebody that I hold that high up, to me, it’s a ride-along,” the veteran actor said. “We ride together. You take your run, I’m in it. I get it. So here comes mine. I just wanna compliment what you’re doing.”

“How have you done in the past with other, like, strong males? Is it easy for you to coexist?” Shepard asked, to which Freeman replied, “Easy,” adding, “Strong males aren’t doing anything but acting.”
