After Donald Trump Publicly Denounced “The Apprentice,” Its Star Sebastian Stan Has Revealed That Nobody Would Pair Up With Him For Variety’s “Actors On Actors”
“That’s when, I think, we lose the situation,” Sebastian added. “If it really becomes that fear or that discomfort to talk about this, we’re really going to have a problem. There was an op-ed that came out, I sent to [Ali], in the New York Times recently that I thought was really interesting, it was: ‘We have to stop pretending that Trump is not one of us.’”
“That’s a really difficult thing to deal with at the moment, and I understand emotions are very high, but I think that’s the only way you’re going to grasp this film — all it’s saying is you cannot keep casting this person aside, especially after they got the popular vote,” he concluded. “Should we not give this a closer look and try to understand what it is about this person that’s even driving that?”
Needless to say, many were horrified to hear how Sebastian had been excluded by his fellow stars, with one viral tweet reading: “So, Sebastian Stan won’t be doing Variety Actors on Actors, even though he was invited, because no other actor’s publicist wanted them to do it with him. This [is] beyond reprehensible.”
“Sadly, this reveals the true face of Hollywood, where fear and self-interest override artistic collaboration and growth,” somebody else replied. One more agreed: “This is really dreadful to hear but good for him for being transparent about it so we all know the truth. The fact no actor would pair up with him is really pathetic.”
Others theorized that the publicists involved feared repercussions from Trump himself if they discussed the movie with Sebastian.
