The two are currently promoting their upcoming thriller After the Hunt, which follows a college professor forced to confront dark secrets from her past after a star student makes accusations against one of her colleagues.
The Luca Guadagnino-directed film, which also stars Julia Roberts and Chloë Sevigny, is set for a limited release on October 10, before expanding on October 17.
Last week, Andrew, Ayo, and Luca visited CinemaCon in Las Vegas where they debuted the trailer for the project and gave some behind-the-scenes details about what audience members can expect. And during a recent interview with Access Hollywood, we learned about Andrew and Ayo’s friendship off-screen. While this is their first time working together, it isn’t their first meeting.
When asked about working on the film Ayo and Andrew had nothing but sweet things to say about each other. “It was a blast. I just felt really happy,” Ayo said. “You’re obviously doing kind of murky stuff, but it was with people who just make art fun.”
“It was an amazing experience,” Andrew added. “I feel a kind of kindred spirit with Ayo. I really, really, truly love her as a human being, as a heart in the world, as a creator in the world, and just as a spirit. I think the world of her. I just love being in her company.”
Andrew went on to admit that he’s “obsessed” with Ayo’s hit show, The Bear, and thanks his father for introducing him to the series. He then hinted that his father and Ayo would soon be working on something else special.
“It was my dad that got me into it,” Andrew said, while turning to Ayo. “My dad is actually gonna be helping Ayo out with some special stuff at some point.”
Ayo confirmed the info by teasing if she should “leak” the information, ultimately deciding to do so since it was her “journey” — “Yeah, I’m trying to learn how to swim,” she revealed. According to Andrew, his father is a very accomplished swimming coach, and these lessons have been in the works for a while.
