“he won over the straight men he’s truly unstoppable.”

The Oscar-nominated star can sing, rap, dance, act, and — as many people recently discovered — also knows a hell of a lot about sports.

In case you missed it, Timothée put on a show in Atlanta this weekend when he joined as the guest picker on ESPN’s College GameDay as part of the promotional tour for his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.

For context, the initial announcement that Timmy would be appearing on the show did NOT go down well with some football fans, many of whom questioned what a movie star like him would know about the sport they so dearly love.

However, when the big day rolled around, those who doubted the actor were forced to eat their words.

A clip of the picking segment has been watched over 15 million times on X, with Timmy garnering all kinds of praise for his elite knowledge and stellar delivery — as well as a slew of hilarious Paul Atreides jokes (Lisan Al-Gaib, etc.)

Notably, he received an especially large amount of praise for being the only commentator to correctly predict that the Ohio Bobcats would beat the Miami RedHawks, prompting Barstool Sports to write that he was “honestly better than a majority of guest pickers who College Gameday brings in.”

Soon enough, people online were issuing formal apologies to the star for not being familiar with his game. And those who weren’t taken aback by his ball knowledge were simply mesmerized by his onscreen charisma — it was a great time to be a Timmy stan, let me tell you.

And now, speaking at the premiere for A Complete Unknown in LA last night, Timothée addressed the frenzy surrounding his latest side-quest — and how it could even open doors for a new career arc.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the 28-year-old joked: “The Bob Dylan movie approached me five years ago, and my hope was, I’m gonna shoot this movie, and then in the promotional run, I’ll be able to pivot and go on ESPN or any sportscasting thing — ‘cause, you know, acting’s not always a reliable gig.”

Well, Timothée, if the whole acting thing doesn’t work out, you know exactly what to do next. If you need more proof, you can watch his full appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay here.
