After His Own Past Struggles, Scott Disick Got Brutally Honest About How He Will Navigate 15-Year-Old Mason Eventually “Experimenting” With Alcohol

“I’m just like, ‘It could take you down a really bad road, or it could be a really fun road.’”
If you’ve been a fan of the Kardashians since the very beginning, you’ll know that the highs and lows of Scott Disick’s adult life have always been a central theme on the family’s show.

But it definitely wasn’t all bad. The show also captured plenty of the family’s happiest moments, including the births and upbringings of Scott and Kourtney’s three children — Mason, 15, Penelope, 12, and Reign, 10.

And so, now that the Kardashian and Jenner grandkids are getting older, Scott has opened up about his children watching KUWTK and tackling difficult conversations about his past.

Appearing on the first-ever episode of Khloé Kardashian’s new podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, Scott said he thinks it’s “cute” that Mason, Penelope, and Reign will have so much footage of their family’s life to look back on, but also confessed he’ll find it uncomfortable for them to see the more difficult times he’s navigated on camera.

“A lot of families show their kids albums of pictures,” he said when Khloé asked about his thoughts on the kids watching “old episodes” of the show. “We’re able to show them full videos of our lives. Of them being born. Of them growing up.”
Khloé — who said she’d be “mortified” for her kids, True, 6, and Tatum, 2, to see KUWTK — highlighted that Scott has changed a lot since the show began in 2007 and referenced some of his most controversial moments caught on camera, saying: “The version you are right now and the version you were then, sticking hundred dollar bills down waiters’ throats and yelling at people.”

In response, Scott winced at the idea of his children seeing that side of him — but emphasized that it’s not a topic of discussion he’s scared to broach, particularly with his oldest son, Mason.

For context, after having the entirety of his life documented on camera, Mason spent several years away from the public eye in his early teens, making the decision not to appear on the show or on his family’s social media pages. However, in 2024, he launched a public Instagram account where he now shares occasional glimpses into his personal life with friends.
Now that Mason is approaching the latter part of his teens, Scott and Khloé acknowledged that it’s “inevitable” he’ll eventually start “experimenting” with alcohol, meaning his dad is fully prepared to have open conversations about the potential risks that can come with it.

“The truth is I do explain to Mason how drinking affected me and how badly it put me in certain places,” Scott said as Khloé commended him for his honesty. “And he knows that. And he, for a while, thought I was going to treat him differently because of that.”

Giving some insight into their father-son conversations, Scott recalled telling Mason: “I’m not treating you any different because of my mistakes or how I lived. But if I see a problem with alcohol with you, I will take action.”
“Other than that, you are just like every other kid,” he continued. “You’re going to try drinking when you’re going to try drinking, but if I see a problem that might be hereditary, then I’ll jump in. But until then, you’re treated like every other kid.’”
In spite of all this, Scott clarified that he still “would not love” for his kids to watch how poorly he behaved during some of the earlier seasons of KUWTK. However, Khloé suggested that seeing the “outlandishness” of Scott’s past actions might even deter Mason from drinking altogether.

“It’s funny that he hasn’t seen some of these things. Maybe he has,” Scott wondered, imagining Mason saying: “Wow, my dad was a real dick then.”
He added: “I talk to him all the time about it. And I’m just like, ‘It could take you down a really bad road, or it could be a really fun road,’ you know.”
