Amy Schumer has long been honest about her methods of losing weight — which include liposuction and previously trying Ozempic, which is an FDA-approved drug that helps adults with Type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels.
In 2023, Amy said on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she hastily stopped using Ozempic after it made her “so sick” that she couldn’t play with her son, who is now 5. “Like, a year ago, I tried it. I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny, and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t],” she shared.
And just last month, Amy opened up further about her awful experience on Ozempic, revealing that she was left “bedridden” due to how sick she was. “I was, like, bedridden,” she said on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show, per People. “I was, like, vomiting — and then you have no energy. But other people take it, and they’re all good. So, God bless them.”
Now, Amy has revealed that she’s currently having a “really good experience” using a different drug for weight loss: Mounjaro.
Noting that she tried Wegovy three years ago — which is a different brand name for the same injectable drug as Ozempic, semaglutide — Amy recalled in a new Instagram video, “I was like puking, I couldn’t handle it.” She then noted that following her experience with Wegovy, she was prescribed the hormones estrogen and progesterone to help with her perimenopause symptoms, and she also started using Mounjaro.
“My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to get down more, if you know what I mean — I’m talking about sex,” she said. “So, yeah, that’s been great. Mounjaro’s been great…I’m having a really good experience, so I wanted to keep it real with you about that.”
