Andrea Bocelli eyeing on retirement?
Andrea Bocelli, the internationally acclaimed tenor, got candid about his retirement plans.
In a conversation with PEOPLE, the Italian superstar mentioned the stage at which he would stop performing.
The 66-year-old tenor, whose music has bridged classical and pop genres, described that when he thinks about retired people, he always pictures old men in their slippers, who are sitting on a bench and feeding the pigeons.
“What is for sure, [there] may come a day that my voice will not be the same one,” Bocelli said, adding, “And it wouldn’t be suitable anymore to offer the performance that my audience would expect from me.”
The Con te partirò/Time To Say Goodbye hitmaker vowed to keep giving his all until his “very last performance.”
“The good Lord may keep surprising me, and I will welcome everything,” he stated.
Bocelli continued, “Reality has by far exceeded expectations. I’m already very happy and pleased about what I have accomplished, and I will try to give my best until the very last performance that I shall do.”
On the work front, Bocelli recently celebrated his 30th year in music in 2024.
He released the star-studded concert film Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration in November, which commemorated 30 years of him working in the music industry.
