Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey bond over theater roots on ‘Wicked’ set
Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey bonded over their shared theater experience while filming for Wicked.
Speaking with PEOPLE magazine, Grande, who made her Broadway debut at the age of 15, said, “I feel like we were both very theater children in the room.”
Bailey, who was also a child actor agreed, saying, “I mean incessant.”
In the musical, the singer plays the role of Glinda, while Bailey stars as Glinda’s dreamy love interest, Prince Fiyero.
Reflecting on their chemistry, the singer stated, “And we were very giggly together. That was the tough thing with us. We were the giggliest pair. It carbonated our chemistry.”
Grande shared that while Glinda and Prince Fiyero fell for each other on screen, the pair fell “for each other as friends in real life, too. That was such a beautiful part of it. We had the most beautiful time.”
It is worth mentioning that Bailey, who rose to fame through his role in Netflix’s Bridgerton, shares another interesting connection with Grande.
Grande’s famous track the thank u, next was used in season 1 of the Netflix series which helped amplify Bailey’s profile.
