Bravo addresses plans for flagship show ‘RHONY’

Bravo is said to be halting production for one of its flagship shows The Real Housewives New York City.

The show, which premiered in 2008, has no firm plans for a revival, Page Six reported.

“We’re trying to figure that show out,” said an insider. “We want to figure it out. We think there’s still life in it.”

Amid the uncertainty, there are other shows that didn’t return for quite long, such as The Real Housewives of Miami, which was canceled in 2013 and wasn’t revived until 2021.

Reports also state that while execs expect RHONY to return, it certainly won’t be bringing back all of its current cast.

The recent development in the show’s fate comes after creator Andy Cohen took an unprecedented decision to split the show in two in 2021.

Cohen envisioned the main show to run as The Real Housewives of New York City and the second show to be called The Real Housewives of New York City: Legacy.

However, both halves are believed to be going off air within a four-year span.

Meanwhile, a Bravo spokesperson has refused to confirm the show’s cancellation. “Nothing is official. The show hasn’t been canceled.”

Another original Housewives franchise The Real Housewives of New Jersey was paused in May 2023 but eventually continued—only to be put on ice again as execs decided on a reboot.
