Bruce Springsteen reveals he suffered a mental “breakdown” at 32

Bruce Springsteen revealed that mental health problems run into his family.
In a recent chat with the Hollywood Reporter podcast Awards Chatter, the now 75-year-old rocker opened up about his family’s mental health issues and his own “breakdown” which he experienced when he was 32 years old.
Recalling his struggle, he said, “By the time I came out of Born in the U.S.A., I’d been in two years of analysis because I had a pretty good breakdown back when I was 32.”
Springsteen shared that his father and other blood relatives had their own struggles with mental issues as the problem ran into his family.
“My father was plagued by mental illness most of his life,” he said adding, “And my family was filled with mental illness, my aunts, my uncles, my pop.”
“It just was in our blood, so I had to deal with it too,” Springsteen admitted.
The performer is grateful that in his “difficult times” his manager and co-producer, Jon Landau, helped him out of it.
“And thankfully, Mr. Landau had some experience with it and directed me in to get some help, which I did,” he added.
