Daniel Stern looked back on his time in the spotlight and shared some fond memories from the Home Alone 2 set.

Stern, who played Marv Murchins in both Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2 (1992), told People that while he didn’t interact much with Macaulay Culkin during the first film, he got to know the young actor better during the making of the sequel.

In regards to this, the 67-year-old father of three recalled, “The second time we got to be more friends. Then my kids came to visit, and we all went to the park together, Mac and my kids, and we played tag and ran around.”

Moreover, the City Slickers actor went on to praise Culkin, who was 12 years old during the filming of Home Alone 2.

As per the publication, Stern stated, “He was a wonderful kid, had the pressure of the world on him at such a young age, and handled it so brilliantly. He was incredible in the movie. That’s why everybody’s watching it, that kid. Can you imagine being a 12-year-old and having everyone invest so much in you? And then living your life? … He’s managed his life brilliantly.”

Having worked with young actors on The Wonder Years, where he narrated the adult version of Kevin Arnold, Stern shared that he became more sensitive to the pressures of child stardom.

Additionally, he explained, “Show business can be a very dangerous route for young actors because either you’re a success, and then you deal with that, or you’re a failure. We had a very caring set on The Wonder Years, and I was really protective.”

As per the outlet’s claims, Stern, who later chose to step away from Hollywood after earning enough to live off the interest from his films, said that his children were a big motivation behind his decision.

In this regard, he claimed, “I coached all my kids’ teams, taught in their classes, and manned the playground in our community. I was awarded the President’s Call to Service Award for volunteerism. Giving back to the community became a huge part of my life.”

It is worth mentioning that nowadays, Stern spends his time managing his cattle ranch and citrus farm in California’s Central Valley.

Furthermore, Stern released a memoir, Home and Alone in 2024, with all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
