Dax Shepard And Ike Barinholtz Just Had An Extremely Unfiltered Conversation About Being Naked Around Their Kids

“You know what our older daughter asked Kristen at one point? She said, ‘Why do you and Daddy’s birds — it’s universal in my house, it can be male or female — why do you and Daddy’s birds look so old?’”
On the latest episode of his podcast Armchair Expert, Dax and his celebrity guest, Ike Barinholtz, somehow got to chatting about the topic of being naked around their respective kids.

Dax shares two daughters with his wife, Kristen Bell: Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9. Meanwhile, Ike has three girls — Foster, 11, Payton, 8, and a third whose name hasn’t been shared publicly — with his wife, Erica Hanson.
The subject came up after Dax recalled the moment he tried showing Kristen’s 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall to Delta. If you’ve seen the R-rated Nicholas Stoller comedy — which also stars the likes of Jason Segel, Mila Kunis, and Russell Brand — you’ll know that it features lots of sex and nudity, something that was seemingly lost on Dax when he first put it on.

“This could be fun!” he recalled thinking. “This is Mom in a balls to the wall comedy…It kinda starts, and then all of a sudden, Jason [Segel’s] dick is out and the towel’s off.”

“We’re not hung up on nudity in my family, so that’s whatever. But then, as it goes on, I’m like, ‘No, I don’t think this is the right film for us,’” Dax said.

Ike then said, “I wish we weren’t hung up on nudity…My 11-year-old, who’s going on 15, she’ll come into my bathroom when I’m coming out of my shower and will look at me and go, ‘Eurgh.’ I’m like, ‘What are we doing? Why are you doing this?’”
Ike said that his daughter appeared visibly “disgusted” by the sight of his body, prompting Dax to share an anecdote of his own. “You know what our older daughter asked Kristen at one point? She said, ‘Why do you and Daddy’s birds — it’s universal in my house, it can be male or female — why do you and Daddy’s birds look so old?’”
