Drake takes legal action against Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ streaming data
Drake has taken a legal action against Universal Music and Spotify.
The rapper has reportedly accused both companies for “artificially” boosting streams for Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us, which is a diss track against him.
According to a report by BBC, Drake’s company Frozen Moments LLC have filed papers in New York, accusing Universal Music and Spotify of engaging in an illegal “campaign” to promote Kendrick’s track by involving bots, payola and some other methods.
Drake’s lawyer has claimed that Universal Music “launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.” They also stated that these companies “conspired with and paid currently unknown parties” for fake boosting.
However, Universal Music has quickly responded to the accusations with its spokesperson calling the claims “offensive and untrue.” Meanwhile, Spotify and the American rapper have not yet addressed the accusations.
For the unversed Kendrick’s diss track Not Like Us against Drake gained phenomenal success with 96 million streams in seven days, number one in the US charts, and a top 10 radio hit.
