Elton John shares another shocking update about his eyesight
Elton John has shared another shocking update about his eyesight.
While addressing the audience at the opening-night premiere of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical in London on Sunday, the iconic musician revealed he lost his eyesight after battling with a “severe” infection.
“As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight. I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it,” the 77-year-old told the crowd.
Praising his husband, David Furnish, for helping him throughout the ordeal, John stated, “To my husband, who’s been my rock, because I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I’ve lost my eyesight, so it’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it.”
“And, boy, it sounded good tonight! OK! Thank you for coming!” he added.
In September, Elton shared that he had “only limited vision in one eye” after getting an infection while on vacation in June.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” the Grammy winner wrote on his Instagram at that time.
“I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks,” continued the Rocket Man singer.
“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far,” added Elton.
