‘Fifty Shades’ sequels director James Foley passes away at 71

Director James Foley has died at age 71.

Foley reportedly died earlier this week of brain cancer, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.

Foley’s most famous work was directing Fifty Shade sequels Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018) adapted from E.L. James‘ novels and starring Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dorman as Christian Grey.

The Brooklyn-born director also directed Glengarry Glen Ross. He also worked with stars like Sean Penn for At Close Range and Madonna for her several music videos and feature film Who’s That Girl.

He also contributed to television with an episode of the original Twin Peaks and also oversaw 12 episodes of House of Cards. He also directed episodes for Hannibal, Billions, and Wayward Pines.
