I Nearly Fell Off The Sofa Laughing At These Kendrick Lamar-Drake Jokes After News About The Super Bowl Halftime Show Broke

“Not Like Us” is hitting the big stage.
Kendrick Lamar was just named the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime performer, and the jokes immediately started pouring in — and, yes, a lot of them were about Drake.

Let me set the scene: It’s football Sunday. Just hours before the first official kickoff for the 2024 season, the NFL, Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation, and Apple Music announced Kendrick will hit the stage on Feb. 9, 2025 for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show at at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome.

“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” Jay-Z said in a statement, according to Rolling Stone. “His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Kendrick added in a statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

And Kendrick, who became the first hip-hop artist to be awarded the Pulitzer for his fourth studio album DAMN., knows a little something about making an impact. The rapper took 2024 by storm when he dropped the summer anthem “Not Like Us” amid his ongoing beef with fellow rapper Drake.

The single became an instant hit, with the music video packing the final punch by adding visuals to bring his lyrics to life.
It didn’t take long for fans of both artists to crown Kendrick the victor of the beef. Now that Kendrick has been named the new Super Bowl Halftime performer, supporters can’t help but label it as another win for the Compton native.

Performing at the Super Bowl in response to a song where the guy you beefing with said he was “big as the Super Bowl” is the craziest rebuttal in hip hop history.

Kendrick went from being at home minding his own business to headlining the super bowl all because Drake didn’t know how to pick his battles.

Kendrick Lamar performing ‘Not Like Us’ to the world at the Super Bowl. Might be the greatest diss of all time, I fear.
