Jamie Lee Curtis paid an emotional tribute to Hoda Kotb for her departure from Today.
During her recent appearance on the NBC morning news show on Thursday, December 12 for the promotion of her new movie The Last Showgirl, the Oscar-winning actress took a moment to show her love and admiration for Kotb’s hosting.
“Say it ain’t so, Hoda. I can’t deal with it. I just can’t deal with it,” Curtis began. “I just can’t believe this is the last time I’m going to be here with you.”
“It’s appropriate we’re wearing purple,” Curtis remarked, highlighting deeper meaning of the color they were donning for the program. “Purple is a wound, so I have a wound today with you. We are both wearing purple.”
Curtis expressed her grief over Kotb’s exit from the show.
“I’m a little sad, and yet I love you,” Curtis noted. “I heard you on the phone with your daughters this morning, as I’ve heard you on the phone every time I come here at 7:22 a.m., you FaceTime your children. You are an absolute treasure and we are all going to miss you here. I can’t imagine this place without you. So that’s what I needed to say.”
Kotb, already in tears after Curtis’s sentimental honor, responded, “First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she said, before holding up a letter Curtis wrote her. “And thank you for the note that you gave me.”
It is pertinent to mention that the 65-year-old actress sent a letter to the TV personality back in September when she announced her exit.
