Jonathan Bailey hints at coparenting plans with a man
Jonathan Bailey is looking to embrace fatherhood sometime soon.
The Wicked actor, 36, shared the recent development in an interview with British Vogue when asked if he wants to have children.
“Yes, it’s such a privilege for a man,” adding, “but I can’t bring children into my lifestyle now” due to his busy schedule.
The Bridgerton actor also detailed his reluctance for the time being, adding that he is utilising this time with research on the matter.
“I want to make sure I’m going to be present.” And while the time may not be now, Bailey is making sure he’s prepared for when it is. “I’m reading books on adoption,” he told the outlet.
“I might co-parent with a woman, but I’m thinking it will be with a man,” he added.
Bailey, who was once a child actor in the Royal Shakespeare Company, previously reflected on sharing the screen with his Wicked costar Ariana Grande following their experience in the theatre as kids.
“I feel like we were both very theater children in the room,” began Grande, who plays Glinda, the future Good Witch, in the musical prequel to The Wizard of Oz. “I mean incessant,” agreed Bailey, who stars as Glinda’s dreamy love interest, Prince Fiyero.
“And we were very giggly together. That was the tough thing with us. We were the giggliest pair,” added Grande in their interview with People Magazine. “It carbonated our chemistry,” to which Bailey replied, “It gave us fizz.”
Grande also added that as their characters fell for each other on screen, she and Bailey were “falling for each other as friends in real life, too. That was such a beautiful part of it. We had the most beautiful time.”
