London’s Jingle Bell Ball lit up with a scenic tribute to Liam Payne in memory of his 2019 performance.

The One Direction star, who performed solo at the annual music festival in 2019, was honoured at its opening held at The O2 on Saturday evening.

A five-word touching tribute “Tonight we remember Liam Payne” flashed across the big screen as the lights were dimmed for a moment of silence before the star-studded show began.

Among the performers were Coldplay and Perrie Edwards.

The moving tribute comes after Zayn Malik paid homage to his former bandmate on returning to the stage for the first time since Liam’s tragic death.

After Zayn left the stage, a backdrop appeared which read, “Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro,” and a red heart.

Liam, 31, fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina on October 16. His funeral marked the first time the band was seen in public together in nine years as they paid their respects on November 20.

Harry Styles, 30, Niall Horan, 31, Louis Tomlinson, 32, and Zayn, 31, arrived separately at the church for a final sendoff.
