Lorde just explained what her 2025 Met Gala look actually means.

As she spoke to Emma Chamberlain of Vogue, the New Zealand singer and songwriter hinted at where she is with her gender identity.

“This is custom Thom Browne, [and] this is my creation. It’s something of an Easter egg,” Lorde explained to Emma adding, “More will be revealed.”

She continued, “I just love the open back. It really represents where I’m at, gender-wise. I love it. I feel like a man and a woman, you know?”

The Ribs hitmaker’s statement echoed with her previously given interview to Document Journal, where she told Martine Syms, how her song What Was That aligned with her “gender broadening.”

“Becoming single, but also really facing my body stuff head-on, and starting to feel my gender broadening a little bit. Just being back in my house and feeling this big wave of grief. I just kept thinking, What was all of that?” she recalled.

The Girl, So Confusing collaborator also stated, “I was also coming into my masculinity a bit more as well.”

“Seeing that as I was also coming into my masculinity a bit more as well. That became the thing we would say to each other while making music,” Lorde further mentioned at that time.
