As you probably know, the Met Gala is a lavish celebrity event that happens once a year, and every year, one of the biggest sources of contention surrounding the calendar highlight is attendees who donât follow the dress code.

If you didnât know, the Met is infamous for always having a specific theme that encompasses the whole evening, as well as a related dress code that those in attendance are expected to follow.

This is why celebrities typically go all out for their Met look, with outfits that you wouldnât normally see on just any red carpet. Itâs also why the people who dress incredibly plainly â like all the men who wear a simple black suit â face the wrath of the public once the photos emerge online.

But it turns out thereâs one regular attendee who couldnât care less about the backlash, with Naomi Campbell candidly admitting that she never follows the theme when she attends the gala. In fact, she wasnât even sure what last yearâs one was when she was literally on her way to the event.

In a new episode of her YouTube series, Being Naomi, the British model documented herself preparing for last yearâs Met, including footage from her Burberry fitting, and her âanxietyâ during the car ride from her hotel to the red carpet.
For reference, last yearâs theme was âSleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,â and the dress code was âThe Garden of Time,â but Naomi didnât seem too sure as she made her way to the gala.
Speaking to the camera, she said: âI donât follow themes, Iâm sorry. I just flow. I think itâs something to do with Sleeping Beauty, awakening something. Iâm sorry.â

Naomi, 54, also admitted to feeling as though she is getting âtoo oldâ for the stress of the event, as she claimed that last yearâs would be her final gala. For reference, Naomi first attended the Met in 1990, at age 20.

âThis is my last Met. It is my last. I canât⊠Iâm too old. Itâs too much for me, the anxiety,â she said. âI donât know what number this is, I think it could be either 20 or 21, can you imagine?!â

And we donât have to wait too long to find out if Naomi was being serious about 2024 being her final gala, as this yearâs Met is just one week away.
