It’s fair to say that one of the most exhausting conversations to dominate pop culture in recent years is nepo baby discourse, specifically some nepo babies’ constant refusal to acknowledge their privilege.

Which is why Bryce Dallas Howard’s recent comments have proven to be incredibly popular, with the 44-year-old star being widely praised for taking the time to highlight the benefits that come with being a “third-generation actor and director” during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

For reference, Bryce is the eldest child of decorated actor and filmmaker Ron Howard. Ron started his career as a child star and has won two Academy Awards, seven Emmys, two Golden Globes, and a Grammy over the years.

In short, there are a lot of links on Bryce’s Wikipedia page, and she is not ashamed of it. Speaking to host Josh Horowitz during her podcast appearance, she said: “I think it’s important to just say this: I’m a third-generation actor and director. My dad was incredibly privileged, my dad and uncle, to be raised in a household with parents who worked in the industry.”

“I, in turn, have been enormously privileged to be raised in a home where my dad is doing the work that he’s doing,” Bryce went on. “My mom is also a novelist and is absolutely incredible. And so, it’s a joy to get to do the stuff that we do, but also it’s a very rare thing.”

“I talk about all these things in ways that are very… It’s very fun, but I just want to acknowledge for a moment that this is a very unique way to be raised and I’ve been very, very lucky,” Bryce concluded. “I’ve tried my hardest to put everything that I’ve learned into my work.”
