Patrick J. Adams reveals why he left ‘Suits’ after seven seasons
Patrick J. Adams has finally revealed why he left the legal drama Suits after starring in seven seasons.
During an appearance on the latest episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast, the 43-year-old actor shared that he quit the show to focus on his marriage to Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario.
“It was a bunch of different things,” said Adams. “Mostly, I felt done.”
The star further shared that “The show starts [with], like, my character has a secret. So there was all this interesting stuff to play for a guy who was lying and hiding out, and the only person who knew his secret is this other guy. And over the course of seven seasons, that was all peeled away, and everybody knew everything.”
Patrick, who tied the knot with Troian in 2016, continued, “I never regretted the decision for a second. I knew it was the right thing for my marriage — which, I was not married at the time, but we were getting married. We got married in 2016. And we had been away from each other for seven years.”
“We’ve been together the whole time Suits had been on, and it was time. We had been long distance for long enough. It was time for us to start our lives. We wanted to be together. We wanted to have kids, which we knew would take a couple of years before we were comfortable doing that,” he added.
For those unversed, Patrick played the role of Mike Ross in Suits from 2011–2019.
