Swifties, assemble! We’ve got a potential new Easter egg to talk about. And this one’s a good one.

Let’s recap: as we all know, Taylor Swift has been on a much-needed break from The Eras Tour after the European leg wrapped up in late August. But she’ll be back at it for her very last leg, which starts in Miami on Oct. 18 and ends in Vancouver on Dec. 8. She’ll also be performing in New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Toronto.

SIX SHOWS IN TORONTO. Just sayin’.

Because Taylor loves to announce new music at The Eras Tour (and basically invented the concept of an Easter egg), Swifties have kept their eyes peeled for anything telling during this break — specific things that might hint at an announcement during the last leg of her tour.

Like, Taylor announced both Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at The Eras Tour, as well as several music videos. She has also planned major surprises specifically for the last night of tour legs — on the US leg, it was the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) announcement, and on the European leg, it was the brand-new performance of “Florida!!!” with surprise guest Florence & the Machine. So long story short (LOL), it’s definitely okay to assume we’ll be getting an announcement on the final Eras Tour leg.

Get it? Long story short? Anyway. Sorry.

Considering ALLLL of this, let’s discuss the newest Easter egg. Basically, ever since her little break began in August, Tay has been making appearances at big events like the VMAs, and of course supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce at Chiefs games. And one huge way she teases new eras is through her clothing choices.

She’s discussed using clothing as a major way to tease new music in the past, so we know she’s thinking about it! She totally dressed in TTPD fashion in the months leading up to that album’s announcement, and also changed all her 1989 Eras Tour fits to blue right before the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) announcement.

And one unmissable, very apparent thing about her clothing choices recently? There has been a LOT of plaid.

Like… more than usual. And everyone loves plaid in the fall, Taylor included. But this has gone overboard — especially since it’s not your classic plaid flannel. She’s arriving to events in full plaid getups.

And let me be clear: she rocks it every single time.

So what could this mean? Well, TikTok user @chloeandpercy recently posted a video theorizing what the plaid may be hinting at. In the video, she reminds us all that plaid has one very specific, very adorable connection: CANADA.

As a Canadian myself, I have to admit: plaid IS very Canadian. It gives, like, lumberjack vibes. I’m pretty sure every single Canadian I know owns this EXACT red and black plaid flannel.

Do you own one??? Don’t lie. I know you do.

And before all you Canadians yell at me, saying you don’t think Canada and plaid are connected, let me hit you with some HISTORY. The Maple Leaf Tartan (a plaid design) is an official symbol of Canada, right next to our flag, anthem, and of course, beavers and hockey.

So because Taylor will be in Canada for a whopping NINE out of 18 shows at the final leg of The Eras Tour (half, if my math is right), perhaps her Canadian-esque plaid fits are signalling an announcement in Canada.

This idea isn’t preposterous for another big reason: the last show of The Eras Tour EVER is in Vancouver, Canada. I bet Taylor wouldn’t miss the opportunity to announce something at the very last show of her biggest tour ever.

But what would this announcement be for? We’re not totally sure — but people think it could be a brand-new album, since she’s allegedly been working on new music. Time to place your bets.

I know, I know, Tortured Poets just came out. But she did say she “needed” to write that album, and it was a “lifeline” for her! So maybe there’s more where that came from.

In my eyes, this Canada announcement theory is number-one. Maybe I’m biased because I just love the idea of Taylor channeling her inner Canadian, but hey, can you blame me for hoping? I’ve been a clown before, and I’m prepared to do it again.

That’s gonna be Taylor in the Canadian snowfall, just wait.

And even if the plaid doesn’t signal an announcement in Canada, Swifties are pretty much all in agreement that it definitely means SOMETHING. Maybe plaid fits the vibe of her next album, for example, just like her outfits prior to TTPD very much fit the aesthetic of that album. Or maybe it’s even an evermore reference.

you literally cannot convince me that ts12 isn’t a plaid era. because hello

And let’s not forget about all the orange she’s been wearing.

babes, i do not know who needs to hear this but taylor wearing plaid is referencing the evermore album cover and therefore she’s telling us she’s releasing evermore: the long pond studio sessions soon

All I know is, whether the theory is true or not, I’ll be standing in my section at The Eras Tour in Toronto with the peace in knowing Taylor is probably making new music. And that she decided to close The Eras Tour with a Canadian city despite that Canadian winters are absolutely brutal.

That’s how much she loves her fans: she’s willing to withstand Canadian winters just to perform here.
