Prince Harry recalls basic rights he had to intervene for

Prince Harry is recalling the initial disagreements he had with the British monarchy when Meghan Markle married into the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, has alleged in an extensive letter shared to sussex.com on Friday how his wife—who he married in May 2018—was not being considered for the provision of security back in the day until he stepped in.
“In November 2017, before the Royal Household’s role on RAVEC was known, this secretive committee concluded that when my wife would join the royal family, she should not receive protection. Only when I asked for the name of the person willing to carry that risk did they reverse the decision,” Prince Harry said in the letter.
Prince Harry’s statement came shortly after a UK judge dismissed his legal appeal to restore the state-funded security he said was unfairly cancelled when he and Meghan stepped back from their royal roles in 2020.
Hours after the judge’s dismissal, the BBC released an interview with the Duke of Sussex where he expressed his urge for “reconciliation” with his family and father, King Charles.
Prince Harry and Meghan are parents to son Prince Archie, now 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet, now 3. They have been settled in Meghan’s home state of California since they announced their decision to step back from their royal roles in the UK in January 2020.
