Ruth Jones Just Named The One Reason “Gavin And Stacey” Really Is Done For Good

On Sunday night, Ruth picked up a TV Bafta for her performance as Nessa in the final episode of Gavin & Stacey, which she and James co-wrote as well as starred in.

The pair were very open about the fact that the one-off special – which aired on Christmas Day – would be the last instalment of the hit sitcom, and she doubled down on this while speaking to reporters in the TV BAFTAs winners’ room.

“You don’t really want to see Smithy and Nessa in that domestic set-up,” Ruth said. “The whole joy of them was that kind of ‘will they, won’t they?’, and you know, do you really want to see Nessa and Smithy talking about putting the bins out? You don’t really.”
