One of the many Easter eggs that took place during the performance was a surprise appearance from Serena Williams, who crip-walked in an apparent reference to when she did the dance at Wimbledon in 2012.

At the time, there was speculation that Serena’s appearance was also meant to shade Drake, who were rumored to have dated on-and-off for a few years in the early 2010s. Of course, Drake and Kendrick’s year-long feud contributed to the speculation as well.

So what’s the truth? Well, Serena revealed all in a new Time profile — and, as it turns out, she may have been one of the only people involved in the halftime show that wasn’t trying to rub something in Drake’s face.

“Absolutely not,” she replied when asked if her appearance was pointed at Drake specifically. “I would never do that. And that was sad, that anyone would ever think that. I respect how they could. Obviously I can see how someone would think that. But absolutely not.”

If anything, Serena was explicit and clear about the fact that she’s actually really cool with Drake. “I have never had negative feelings towards him. We’ve known him for so many years,” she said.
