“Tina fey please never go through pr training.”

Tina Fey doesn’t feature on podcasts often, but when she does, she definitely makes a splash.

In a new appearance on the first episode of Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, Tina and Amy (my favorite celeb besties) sat down to discuss all things showbiz. And as is the case when all female friends hang out, the conversation turned to a shower of compliments onto each other, with Amy declaring that Tina’s eyeglasses game was so good that she should start a brand.

“I feel like you should have a hair campaign, and also, I’m always pushing you to have a glasses line. Why do you not have a glasses line?” Amy asked. “You hate money?”

“I…do kind of hate money,” Tina joked. “As we know, I’m terrible with money. I’m not terrible with money only in that I don’t waste money, but I don’t get excited about money, if I’m safe and if I have enough money to live,” she clarified.

Tina then went on to criticize the idea of moonlighting if you already have money. “I have a problem with rich people having a side hustle,” Tina said. Amy, leaning into her podcast mic, quietly added, “Yeah. You mean like a podcast or something?”

Brushing off Amy’s joke, Tina clarified her stance. “No, because you’re doing work. I’m saying if you sold, like… Where would my line be for you… Where would I draw the line?” she mused. “Yeah, I know what you mean,” Amy said. “If I had a rosé…”

“Yeah,” Tina winced, beginning to explain that she takes issue with people who have “$200 million” and then ask fans for more, before cutting herself off. Amy then jumped in with a counterpoint, saying, “But Tina, this is where you have to learn from Gen Z. I’m sorry, we have to.”

“They don’t care,” Tina agreed. “They don’t judge it. I judge it.” Amy continued, saying that Tina should be more open before Tina quipped, “Well, I have my line of children’s medications,” as the two giggled.

Tina then recalled that back in the ‘80s, she knew of an actor who “promoted her line of homeopathic children’s medication” at the time. “Why on this Earth would I trust an actress for pediatric medications?” she laughed.

Tina didn’t name the actor in question, but nevertheless, her comments have sparked a heap of discourse online. One viral tweet described her remarks as “so important to the culture,” while several internet users have since speculated which celebrities she might’ve been referring to.

“and she’s right because why does everyone own either an alcohol brand or a makeup line,” one user wrote. “I’m on her side lol. Like wym you already have hundreds of millions of dollars and now you want me to purchase your tequila with my money too,” another added in a viral post.

Meanwhile, other users suggested that Tina appeared to pause and rethink her words while speaking. “Love Tina big time but her hesitation to explain exactly what she means here is absolutely her ‘authenticity is dangerous and expensive’ brain stepping in,” someone wrote, referring to Tina’s memorable appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast last year, where she warned Bowen Yang about sharing his real, unfiltered opinions online.

Another user echoed, “you can see the exact moment the neon ‘authenticity is dangerous and expensive’ sign starts flashing in her head.”

And while Tina may never reveal who she was really talking about, lots of folks online are impressed that she spoke up at all. “Tina fey please never go through pr training,” someone wrote. “Truly the realest out there,” another added.
