Tom Cruise once put his ‘soft power’ on display

Tom Cruise’s heft seems to know no bounds. The Weeknd is a prime example of it.
Recently, the Grammy winner appeared on The Tonight Show; he said, “I definitely saw that. It actually helped the song,” adding, “It helped it peak to the record-breaking top, thanks to him, obviously. To the biggest movie star in the world.”
His remarks referred to the Top Gun star’s promotion of the 35-year-old track Can’t Feel My Face on the Jimmy Fallon show a decade ago, which boosted him to the top spot on the Billboard 100.
The After Hours hitmaker admitted he never met the Academy-nominated actor face-to-face, but he’s “a huge Tom Cruise guy. I love The Color Of Money, Vanilla Sky, Rain Man, Eyes Wide Shot, Magnolia, and Mission Impossible.”
Weekend also said he wanted to return the favour to the megastar by “promoting a little bit of Mission: Impossible.”
Amid the buzz surrounding the new Mission: Impossible film, Tom teased that he is hashing out ideas for Top Gun 3.
“Yeah, we’re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what’s possible. It took me 35 years to figure out Top Gun: Maverick, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing Days of Thunder and Top Gun: Maverick,” he told The Australian Today.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will be out on May 21.
