“I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny xo,” Aimee wrote the day after the sketch aired. “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about- but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way.”

A few hours later, Aimee revealed she’d had an apology from SNL, and followed up by explaining: “I am not thin skinned. I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth. I don’t mind caricature- I understand that’s what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/ Chelsea was the only one punched down on..”

She also clarified that she had no ill feelings towards Sarah specifically for the performance, writing: “not hating on her, hating on the concept,” and Sarah later sent Aimee some flowers.

But while all of this was unfolding on Aimee’s Instagram page, Walton took a wildly different approach to the sketch on his own profile, sharing the full SNL clip to his story and writing: “SMASHING.”

Interestingly, Walton posted this after Aimee had already made her grievances clear, and some wondered if he’d been shady by praising the skit. However, after just a few hours, Walton notably deleted the post from his story without further comment, suggesting that he’d only just learned of Aimee’s feelings surrounding it.
