While performing a rendition of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” at a Grammys afterparty with Anderson .Paak on Sunday, Janelle remixed the lyrics to call out the St. Louis rapper.

“Fuck you, Nelly,” she said in a viral video caught by TMZ. “I used to like Nelly, but then he went to perform for Donald Trump.”

“I care about women. I care about Hispanics. I care about gay people,” Janelle added, showing her solidarity for minority groups. “Nelly, you sold out. I used to think he was cool, but now you look like a motherfucking fool.”

But this isn’t the first time celebs or fans criticized Nelly for hitting the stage. While artists like Billy Ray Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, and Jason Aldean also performed to support Trump’s second term, Nelly and Snoop Dogg had people baffled the most.

“I respect the office,” Nelly said, responding to the backlash. “This isn’t politics. The politics, for me, is over. He won! He’s the president. He’s the commander in chief of what I would like to say is the best country in the world.”

“It is an honor for me to perform for the president of the United States, regardless of who is in office,” added the rapper. “If President Biden would’ve asked me to perform, I would’ve performed. If Vice President Kamala Harris would’ve won and asked me to perform, I would’ve performed.”
