Zendaya receives special Gotham Award for ‘Challengers’
Zendaya has added another feather to her cap as she received the 2024 Spotlight Tribute at the 34th annual Gotham Awards on Monday.
The 28-year-old actress, who took home an award for her outstanding performance in the movie Challengers, dedicated her award to her mother, Claire Stoermer.
“To my mom. My mom’s here tonight; she’s embarrassed,” said Zendaya in her award-acceptance speech.
During her speech, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star also thanked people she works with, saying “Without all of them, none of this is possible.”
The actress continued, “So, really, I just have to say thank you to my community of filmmakers, producers, wardrobe, costumes, hair, and makeup.”
“I mean, yes, I get to be up here, and I get to do it, but my character is only an amalgamation of the beautiful ideas of the amazing, creative people around me,” concluded Zendaya.
For those unversed, the actress played tennis hotshot Tashi Duncan in Challengers, which hit theaters on April 26, 2014.
